Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 September 2026

Supermate is a client for your own self-hosted TeslaMate server. It is built on one principle: your data stays yours.

Data controller

The controller of the personal data described in this policy is:

Legal notice

What we collect

Nothing. Supermate has no account, no sign-up, and no analytics. We — the developer — do not receive, store, or have any access to your data. There is no server of ours between you and your car's data. The only exception is the optional Supermate Cloud waitlist, described below.

Where your data lives

Other connections the app makes

A few requests do leave your device, and none of them carry anything personal beyond the request itself: downloading our own public fuel-price files — one small file per country and year, mirrored from official sources, with no account, key, or log of who asked — so the fuel-price comparison stays automatic; or you can skip this and set your own price by hand; loading Apple Maps map tiles to draw your routes; and Apple's StoreKit, if you choose to buy Pro.

Supermate Cloud

Supermate Cloud (coming soon, sign in with Tesla) will be a separate service with its own privacy policy once it opens, covering the data your car would send us in that mode. Everything above describes today's self-hosted mode.

Shared cars and sync. If a car is shared between people, or you pair your devices with the optional sync, the data that is shared includes how you group drives into journeys (manual splits and joins). Self-hosted pairs sync it end-to-end encrypted, so our server cannot read it; in Supermate Cloud it is stored per car while the car has members, so everyone sees the same grouping.

Supermate Cloud waitlist

Supermate Cloud is coming soon. You can join an anonymous waitlist from the app ("Notify me when it opens") to get a heads-up. We store a random install identifier the app generates (not linked to your Apple ID, device, or Tesla account), plus your app language and country, so we can gauge demand and word the notice in the right language. If you type in your e-mail address and tick the consent box, we also store it — only to send you that one launch notice — together with the date and version of that consent. We never store your IP address; it is only held briefly in memory to block abuse. You can leave the list any time in Settings › Supermate Cloud, which deletes your entry and any e-mail address, or by writing to us (see Contact). Otherwise we delete waitlist entries within 30 days of sending the launch notice.

You can also join the waitlist on supermate.app. There, your browser generates the random identifier and keeps it in its local storage, and the e-mail address is required (with the same consent box), since the website has no other way to reach you. We store the identifier, the page language, the country from your browser's language setting if it has one, your e-mail address and the date and version of your consent — for the same single launch notice and the same 30-day deletion. You can leave the list on the same page (“Remove me from the list”) in the same browser, or by writing to us.

What we do not do

Children

Supermate is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Cookies & storage

This website uses no tracking or analytics cookies. It only stores your chosen language in your browser (localStorage) so the site remembers it next time.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will appear here with a new date.
